Digital stories allow teachers to genuinely engage students in the story's message. Digital storytelling persuades the brain and the heart. Digital stories can teach students the value of emotional rhetoric, allowing them to explore new ways of acting or thinking differently. One of the apps that provides to create a digital story even book is StoryBird.

It provides illustrations to inspire students to write stories , and its standards-based writing curriculum engages students with age-appropriate video tutorials, writing challenges, quizzes, and more.

Storybird enables a productive platform for instructors, students, family members, young kids between age 0-8, age 9-12, adolescent learners age 13-18, and adults.

Storybird gives learners a choice of real artwork, characters and scenes, to inspire them to create anything from a picture book with just a few words per page, to a full-length novel with chapters, or even a piece of poetry.

Storybird best tips and tricks

Collaborate to create
Have a group of students select a story style then work together to create an original narrative that works. You could have one in a pair pick the image then the other add words and swap, taking turns.

Create a science guide
Science students can use the platform to create storybooks that work as revision and learning aids. Have students pick artwork related to plants for example, with leaves, stems, roots and so on – then have them add questions and answers such as "How does a plant get light?" and so on.

Use poetry for bilinguals
Poetry uses word tiles to compile poems, which can help bilinguals or those who are learning in a second language environment. This allows them to get creative while focusing on using words precisely, thereby encouraging learning.
